Seamless power-control integration and browser independence are some new compelling features now standard on remote KVM over IP sessions with Smart 216/232 IP

October 25, 2011

Rackit Technology Corporation today announced its support for new Smart 216/232 IP compelling KVM over IP features, including KVM IP Power Control, browser independence and 'Absolute' mouse support.

KVM IP Power Control allows you to turn power on/off or recycle power to the server you're controlling remotely.

  • A 'Power' icon within a remote KVM over IP session now allows you to turn power on/off or recycle power to the server you're controlling remotely. This facilitates dramatically cutting response time and rebooting servers faster while avoiding the need for juggling between management applications and thus avoiding hazardous mistakes while executing critical power commands during a remote KVM over IP session.
  • KVM IP Power Control seamlessly integrates with any smart PDU (via SNMP).
  • No vendor lock-in! Support for any SNMP-based PDU from leading manufacturers such as APC, Eaton, Server Technology, TrippLite, Geist and others.
  • KVM IP Power Control supports mapping a number of different power outlets (on same or different PDU) to one server (which has redundant power supplies).

Browser independence
allows remote users to connect from various platforms (Windows, Linux).

  • Since Smart 216/232 IP remote KVM over IP session is now running on a Java app., no browser is required to run on the remote computer.
  • If you choose to run your remote session within a browser it can now be any browser.
  • The new Java app. allows you to run a remote KVM over IP session from any Windows and Linux machine, with no limitations on browser brand and no constraints on browser upgrade.

'Absolute' mouse support
with no mouse latency and no need to adjust the mouse settings.

  • 'Absolute' mouse support means you no longer need to adjust the mouse settings (such as turning off 'mouse acceleration') on each and every server connected to the KVM switch.
  • 'Absolute' mouse support is now available for target servers running Windows and Linux OS.

KVM over IP session

  • You can now run your remote KVM over IP session in 'Full Screen Mode', since the Java app. (on the remote computer) doesn't require running within a Browser's window.

OS-Less Mouse Support

  • You can now have use of a mouse within a remote KVM over IP session even if the host computer is not running an Operating System.
  • New OS-Less Mouse Support feature allows the use of the mouse with applications (such as Acronis for example) that run 'above' the BIOS but still 'under the OS', such as during OS installations and rebooting.
